On 30 June 2026, Kazakhstan-EU Gateway participated in the High-Level Round Table Strengthening EU Strategic Autonomy through the Trans-Caspian Corridor, held at the European Parliament in Brussels.


The event brought together Members of the European Parliament, ambassadors from Central Asia, representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS), policymakers, transport experts and stakeholders to discuss the growing strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) and its role in strengthening EU-Central Asia cooperation.
President of Kazakhstan- EU Gateway emphasised the importance of accelerating digital connectivity in Central Asia and commended EU-Kazakhstan academic cooperation. 2 separate panel discussions were included.

The first panel, Central Asia and the Trans-Caspian Corridor: An Integrated Connectivity Architecture, explored the evolving role of the Middle Corridor as a strategic transport and logistics route connecting Europe with Central Asia and beyond. Discussions focused on improving multimodal transport links, strengthening maritime infrastructure, and enhancing cross-border coordination to increase the corridor’s efficiency and resilience.

The second panel, From Strategy to Investment: Global Gateway and EU–Central Asia Partnership, examined how the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative can translate strategic objectives into concrete investment opportunities across Central Asia. Speakers discussed the importance of mobilising public and private investment, developing sustainable infrastructure, promoting digital connectivity and creating stronger economic links between the European Union and Central Asia.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion that enabled participants to exchange views on the future of EU-Central Asia relations and the practical steps required to strengthen connectivity across the region.
The closing remarks reaffirmed the commitment of both European and Central Asian partners to continue advancing cooperation through sustainable infrastructure, strategic investment and institutional dialogue.
