On 7 October 2026, Valikhan Bakhretdinov, President of Kazakhstan–EU Gateway (KEG), participated in the 47th meeting of the Berlin Eurasian Club, held at the Radisson Collection Hotel in Brussels. The event, entitled “Global Gateway Investment Hub and Other Mechanisms for Implementing the European Union’s Global Gateway Initiative,” brought together high-level representatives of Kazakhstan, the European Commission, German business associations, international financial institutions, and the private sector.

Established in 2012 on the initiative of Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev and former German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the Berlin Eurasian Club (BEC) serves as a platform for political, economic, and expert dialogue between Kazakhstan, Germany, and the European Union. Through regular meetings in Berlin, Brussels, and Astana, the Club facilitates exchanges among policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, and experts, contributing to stronger economic and strategic partnerships.
The discussions focused on the implementation of the EU’s Global Gateway Initiative, investment facilitation, infrastructure development, and Kazakhstan’s growing role as a strategic partner for Europe in Central Asia. Particular attention was given to strengthening transport connectivity, developing sustainable logistics corridors, and attracting European investment into Kazakhstan’s key economic sectors. The meeting featured contributions from representatives of the European Commission, the Government of Kazakhstan, the German Eastern Business Association, GIZ, and international financial institutions. Participants exchanged views on the practical implementation of joint investment projects and the importance of deepening Kazakhstan–EU cooperation in the evolving geopolitical and economic environment.
During the event, KEG President Valikhan Bakhretdinov engaged in discussions with representatives of the German private sector and established new professional contacts, including with representatives of Rhenus, a leading international logistics company. These exchanges highlighted opportunities for expanding cooperation in transport, logistics, and infrastructure connectivity, particularly in relation to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor). The discussions also explored potential avenues for collaboration between European businesses and Kazakhstan–EU Gateway in facilitating business dialogue, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and European partners.

Participation in the Berlin Eurasian Club reflects Kazakhstan–EU Gateway’s continued commitment to promoting strategic dialogue, facilitating business partnerships, and expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union. As a Brussels-based platform dedicated to strengthening Kazakhstan–EU relations, KEG seeks to connect policymakers, businesses, and expert communities while supporting practical initiatives in critical raw materials, sustainable transport connectivity, investment facilitation, and economic development. The organisation remains committed to building new partnerships with European stakeholders, including the German private sector, and contributing to the implementation of mutually beneficial projects that reinforce Kazakhstan’s position as an important economic and strategic partner of the European Union.
