Strasbourg, September 30, 2025 – The President of Kazakhstan-EU Gateway took part in the round table “Kazakhstan’s Path to Prosperity: Democratic Reforms and Unity through Parliamentary Diplomacy,” held on the margins of the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The event gathered PACE members, senior officials of the Council of Europe, representatives of international research centers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The round table featured distinguished speakers, including Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Elisabetta Gardini, Vice-President of PACE; Zsolt Németh, PACE Rapporteur on Kazakhstan; Emmanuel Dupuy, President of the Institute for European Prospective and Security; David Chikvaidze, Vice-President of the Swiss Forum on International Relations; Mickael Levystone, Co-Founder of the New Eurasian Observatory; and Lukas Aubin, Director of Research at the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs.

Participants discussed the implementation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiatives aimed at building a Just Kazakhstan, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and respect for citizens’ rights and dignity. Special attention was given to the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening national unity, fostering dialogue within society, and expanding international cooperation.

In his remarks, the President of Kazakhstan-EU Gateway highlighted the growing potential for dialogue between Kazakhstan and European institutions in the framework of democratic governance and human rights. He underlined the importance of sustained engagement with the Council of Europe and PACE to support Kazakhstan’s ongoing constitutional and political reforms, which mark a decisive step toward a more accountable and participatory governance system.
